Last night I went to bed excited because I was looking forward to wodding with the 6AM crew. Unfortunately when I woke up this morning at 4:30 I didn’t feel well, so I hit the snooze button. Before I knew it, it was 5:20 and this surge of anger began flowing through my body. I sat up fast, quickly changed, skipped breakfast, and ran out of the house with all of my gear which is always a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE EVERY DAY.

I skipped the strength portion and waited for the WOD. I finished at 7:39 w/245lbs and a 28” box. I decided to up it a little bit with the weight and height to impress BV. He doesn’t like me because I’m ________.

Doing a 3×10 proved to be difficult. 10 reps is a lot more than 5! I could only do 8 reps @ 50#

Did DL’s all unbroken just for BV @ 115# finished in 10:21

    Enjoy the beautiful autumn day!

I agree – it’s been awhile since I could do the wod without modifying it.

Gregg: what can I do instead of DL tonight? Lower back is fine now, but last 3x we did DL, the spasms returned. I have a Dr. appt coming up, but in the meantime…I could always continue to go REAL LIGHT, but, just putting it out there.

I haven’t been that enthusiastic about my workouts lately so I decided to just embrace it. I’m going 75-80% effort all week. It started yesterday with “Fran” and by golly, I was successful at NOT giving my all today.

Hope to be re-energized by the end of the week. READ THIS

Thanks for sharing BT Express :: ““Recovery is when you are actively engaged in something whose purpose is to keep your body functioning.””

Yoga? Step-class? Pilates? LOL!!! Guess Mondays can be considered a “recovery” day…

3×7 @ 55#. This is the first time I have done presses since last spring for various reasons – schedule, shoulder injury etc.. I was surprised to see that I wasn’t too far off from where I was last spring – gives credence to the theory that sometimes you have to go backwards to move forwards! 11:52 115# DLs and 20″ box plus 25# plate – next time I won’t shy away from the 24″ box.

Love the article Ben. I try to incorporate the idea of Rest days and Active rest days in all intro classes I teach. A rest day doesn’t have to been a sit on your ass day and I’m not saying we shouldn’t have them, b/c there are times we do. But what is amazing about CrossFit is that in enables us to do things like rock climb, go for hikes, ride a bike, or go for a swim. These are things some people can’t even imagine doing with their current health conditions. I just went for a long hike at Jokey Hollow the other day and it was so enjoyable getting lost in the wilderness like I did as a kid. We all need to remember to take these days b/c CrossFit makes us better people, but REST DAYS make us BETTER CROSSFITTERS!

    After a long 6 days off. 105 for 2×10 and 110 2×5. 225#, 28″ box , 5:37
