WOD Fight Gone Bad

Oh yea, I've said this before but I feel like deuce, and when I say that I mean it nahmane?  The newest thing in my pathetic life is this awesome head cold.  Holy cannoli, it feels like my head is about to blow up every second.  Due to this I have an excuse for a horrible performance on FGB.  My current PR is really terrible and when I say really, I mean really.  It would be a dream to achieve in the 350-400 range and to go on a successful
date with someone I enjoyed.

FGB : 334 RX but more importantly PR!!!!
This is really a big deal for me if you can believe it.  Personally I know I should be in the 400 plus range, but I always cupcake during this WOD.  Normally I score in the 200 range HA, and thats no joke.  This was the first time every exercise felt easy to me except for wall ball.  I hate that exercise, I know no matter how often I practice it won't get easier. The only thing that will change will be the mind set of getting through it in a WOD.

Other then that with the huge PR from a 289 to 334, I puked my guts out in the rain for 5 minutes.

Some days I feel like Mickey Rourke

Jason Kaplan - Monday, March 30, 2009
A.M. WOD
5 rounds for time of
25 Wall ball
500 M Row
Then Macebell 20 lbs

On a more important note I went out for a little this weekend with a friend of mine.  Unfortunately my friend is a dude but whatever, having friends is good right?  We started with sushi which I must say I kind of always enjoyed.  I always get those California rolls, now I know to some thats probably not daring enough but I like them.  On top of that I had another roll which forced me to go to the bathroom and spit it back up in the trash can.............right on!!

After that mess we went out for a little.  If I was normal I would have had a better time, but the only thing on my mind was crossfit and laying on the couch watching tv.

A. M. WOD - 19:26
HOOOHAAAA, this was a little difficult for me in the morning, and again I went against my word.  I did a little WOD instead of skill practice.  However this past weekend and last night I cheated with my diet every hour.  I didn't care much about the row, my average pace was around 2:00 minutes which is slow for me.  Today was more focused on wall balls with every round unbroken and cleaner then usual.  I'm still training for my dream Karen time of sub 7 minutes.

The macebell rocked my grip for the rest of the day.

Mainsite's WOD Nicole - PR at 168!! 50/30/25/21/21/21
For this wod I focus on my pull ups saving me.  As soon as I hopped off the bar for the first round busting out 50 I was freaking destroyed.  I hate max rep days because you're supposed to go till you have nothing left, and the most pull ups I've ever done without hopping off was 53.  I definitely could have passed 53 but became a cupcake.  After the first 2 rounds I was on the verge of puking, fortunately was able to recover on the runs.  My macebell routine in the A.M. made this a little more difficult because my grip was rocked but still survived.

You know I used to be a model, and thats no joke.

Said by this guy in the movie Gridiron Gang.  Classic scene.

I needed some time off nahmane?  I keep referring to that dead-lift trainer wod of max reps that I did a week or 2 ago.  It really tore me up physically and mentally to the point of being burned out.  I lost my Rhabdo intensity and attacking a WOD was the last thing on my mind for a few days.  However, I took my little time off, had some fun, and am ready to train again.

Since the qualifiers are slowly approaching my morning sessions are going to focus more on skill practice.  This was my goal originally since day 1, but they slowly turned into little WODs.  This morning I'm going to do wall ball and power cleans.

A.M. - Wall Ball : 50 for time, and some body weight power cleans
Crossfit USA is responsible for my new passion for wall ball.  Of all the exercises in crossfit wall ball is probably my worst.  I'm going to do 50 for 30 days (varied) till my Karen time gets down to a respectable time, like sub 7 minutes.  50 for time for the 3rd day took me 2:18, need to speed that up.  As for power cleans I just did a few rounds.

PM. Main Site Front squat 3-3-3-3-3 reps
Body weight 165
245/255/265/275/285 PR
I should have gone heavier, but crapped out around 285 the last time I did this WOD a month ago.  Felt much stronger today.

Off to Crossfit USA

FRAN SHYSER!!!!
I know I said I'd never do fran again but whatever, ya gotta be a man nahmane?  I think it will be fun anyway, looking forward to visiting a new box and meeting new people.  I tell ya, crossfit people are much better than bodybuilding people.  Once again no offense to the bodybuilding crowd, but really they are.  At a juice head gym all you see are big dudes walking around like they have anvils shoved up their asses.  Crossfit people are more real and passionate.

FRAN - 2:09 RXd of course :)
Visiting Crossfit USA was a great experience.  We did two heats of fran where I was in the first training with maybe 5 or 6 guys.  Prior to this most of the guys in my heat already had times that were around 3 minutes.  As soon as we heard "GO" the battle began to take on "Fran" once again.  The first round of 21 thrusters like usual was not pleasant.  On that 21 every time I feel like I'm being strangled by the bar.  Once that round is done though I can deal with the rest.  The second and third round are usually easy for me unless something is wrong.  When it was all over I believe most of the guys in my heat and in the second all PR'D with a lot of sub 2 performances.  Everyone was happy, me on the other hand was glad I survived another meeting with my chick.......

Once again thank you Crossfit USA for having me as your guest.  If I ever have my own box I'm going to have a juice bar too!

When will the pain stop?

Jason Kaplan - Wednesday, March 18, 2009

I still feel really bad from this weekend.  The WOD that messed me up with the HQ staff was max rep deadlifts with heavy weight.  It was 3 rounds starting with 275, 225, and 185 lbs.  You went when it was YOUR TURN and the rules were basically touch and go.  As soon as the weight hit the floor you had to pull for another rep, no resting or readjusting at the bottom.  It was horrible, after the first round I pumped out 35 reps and had trouble standing.  For the second round I pumped out 37 reps and couldn't feel my ass.  Fortunately we all stopped after the second round, not sure why exactly but was very thankful it was all over.  Other then that it was an honor training with HQ.

Even though it probably isn't a good idea, I'm going to try to train this morning.  Either I'm going to do J.T. or the hang power clean/rope climb WOD that was posted this past Saturday.  I'd like to do the latter because J.T. won't be a challenge for me, plus I got really  pumped by the Dave Castro Dutch video.  Last time I did this WOD I died, but I was a newbie at the time.

I got beat up

Rest day or train???????????????

I'm too tired and rocked to write a detailed entry today.  Well its actually not today, its last night being the 15th but whatever.  This past weekend we hosted another level 1 cert where I had the privilege of working out with Pat Sherwood, EC, Jon Gilson, Chuck Carswell
, Mike Bissaillon, and Todd Widman.  I'll fill you in on how it all went down tomorrow hopefully.  Not sure what I should do today, either rest or make up J.T. with 60-70% intensity.  All I really want to do is bend another grade 5 bolt.  I'll film that with my cheap camera that has no sound because I know how the chicks dig grip strength.

Yea, I definitely needed a rest today.  I didn't really do much because I felt physically depressed all day HAHA!!  I'll do .com tomorrow and get back on top of things.

Prep

A. M. WOD
Albany's
4 rounds for time of:
15 SDHP 115
20 box jumps
25 wall ball

5.5" Grade 5 bolt .25" thick = 445lbs of pressure to bend and single for the rest of my life

This morning when I woke up I felt like deuce, so decided to stay in bed a little longer and skip my A.M. workout.  I felt a little annoyed I did this, but I thought it was a good decision because I flat out did not want to train.  This was a rough week to begin with having 2 AMRAPs and a CFT on top of another heavy lifting day today.  So basically  my body is F$#@ up!!!  I'll make this up next week.

A.M. WOD
30 Snatches 135 lbs

I could just say Isabel, but I'm not really sure what I'm going to do.  I don't want to rush the movement because it is not second nature to me yet like being a social degenerate is.  I'm going to time my workout, but I'm not focusing on intensity here, I'm focusing on form and technique.

.com in the pm

Snatches :  Ended up doing 50

I decided to keep going after 30 because like I mentioned earlier, my focus was technique over intensity.  For me this was a big step because I never thought it would be possible for me.

.com : 32 rounds RXd
AMRAP
5 pullups
5 ring dips
15 situps

Well .com just sucked, thats all I have to say about that.  The hardest exercise for me was sit ups, YEA sit ups, WTF?!  My only excuse here was soreness still left from Monday's amrap involving L pull ups.  Today I felt like I was on the GHD.

FREEDOM!!

A.M. or P.M. WOD
Power Snatch
1-1-1-1-1-1-1

I can't believe my show is finally over.  I've been stressing over this event for months.  Again it involved about 200 students where I had to choreograph full class routines for 8 classes ranging from 17-25 kids!!  On top of that I was the director, producer, and a bunch of other annoying stuff a normal PE teacher should not have to worry about in his/her career.

Anyway, I'm back to training again which I'm very happy about.  Hopefully I have time to complete this power snatch wod today.  Like I said in an earlier post I find it amazing that even though I do not have a girlfriend, wife, or kids, that some days I don't have enough time to do what I want to do.  I believe I have a meeting after work today which may delay my afternoon training goals.  If this is the case then I will probably do .com's wod in the morning.

.COM'S
AMRAP twenty minutes of:
5 Handstand Push-ups
10 L Pull-ups
